Writer Guidelines
Standards and best practices for writing on Curiosity.
Our Mission
Curiosity writers create content that sparks genuine curiosity, challenges thinking, and fosters meaningful discourse. We value depth, originality, and intellectual honesty over clickbait and sensationalism.
What We Look For
Successful Curiosity articles typically have:
- Original perspective: Fresh angles on topics, not rehashed conventional wisdom
- Depth and research: Well-researched content with credible sources
- Clear writing: Engaging prose that makes complex ideas accessible
- Intellectual honesty: Acknowledgment of counterarguments and limitations
- Value to readers: Content that educates, challenges, or inspires
Content Standards
Originality
All content must be original or properly attributed. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. If you reference others' work, cite your sources appropriately.
Accuracy
Fact-check your work thoroughly. Verify claims with credible sources. If you're uncertain about a fact, either verify it or acknowledge the uncertainty.
Length and Depth
We prefer substantial articles (typically 600+ words) that explore topics in depth. However, quality matters more than length—a well-crafted shorter piece can be more valuable than a lengthy but shallow one.
Tone and Style
Write in a thoughtful, respectful tone. You can be provocative or challenging, but avoid inflammatory language, personal attacks, or content designed to provoke outrage.
Topics We Welcome
We welcome diverse topics including:
- Science and technology
- Philosophy and ethics
- Politics and policy
- Culture and society
- Economics and business
- History and analysis
- Psychology and human behavior
- Arts and creativity
We value depth and originality over trending topics. Write about what you know and care about.
What to Avoid
- Clickbait headlines or misleading titles
- Unsubstantiated claims or conspiracy theories
- Content that violates our Content Policy
- Excessive self-promotion or affiliate links
- Content that exists primarily to drive traffic elsewhere
- Repetitive or low-effort content
Editorial Process
After submission, articles go through review:
- Initial review for compliance with guidelines (typically within 1 business day)
- Editorial feedback may be provided for improvement
- Approved articles are published and distributed to readers
- Rejected articles include feedback for future submissions
